My StampinUp consultant insisted that she send me the newest catalog, even though I knew the 1 item I was planning on purchasing. I’m SO glad she did, I wouldn’t have seen these bugs! I was immediately inspired by them! Even though I’m a mother of one daughter, and she tends to mostly go to “princess” birthday parties, I figured they’d be fun to play with even if I didn’t get to use them much. As soon as they arrived I stopped my previous projects and played with nothing else.

I have to share that it did take me a while to find good color combinations that I liked, I have several sheets of bugs that just didn’t make the cut, boy that was fun!

untitled-1-of-3I have a “cheat sheet” now of my favorite colors I used for these bugs and the order with which I applied them, this will make duplicating this card easier when I need to make more for birthdays!

The copic colors used were: B02, B04, BG49, C2, C4, E00, E33, E70, E74, G99, N0, R05, R17, R29, R32, R59, RV34, W2, W4 V15, Y13, YG06, YG23, YG95,  YR04, and the colorless blender.

I used Judi Kins Diamond Glaze on the orangish bugs, IRL they really pop off of the page! The blue/green bugs were covered in Wink of Stella. I cut out the sentiment panel and the accent panel underneath with Spell Binders A2 Matting Basics B, these panels have a piece of fun foam underneath. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant’s Photo Bomb stamp set, and I clear embossed the whole panel as I currently don’t have a way of applying clear embossing to just the letters, maybe if I were patient enough to apply embossing powder to my Multi Matte Medium and let it dry, but I was an eager beaver to see this card.

The reason I titled this post “Happy Accident” was because the sentiment panel is covering up 3 mini issues on the white background. I had intended to place the sentiment centered on the card, but after it was nearly finished I noticed a few tiny marks from either my 4-year-old or sloppy Copic coloring. To hide these issues I changed the location of the sentiment and tilted it, and this was the best choice I have made on this card!

The white papers are Neenah Solar White in 110lbs, and the accent colors are some SU paper. This is an A2 top folding card.

I hope you like this card it was fun to create! Thank you for viewing!
