I have been IN LOVE with some of the stamp sets from Waffle Flower‘s recent release! They have 6 sets illustrated by Helen Dardik, I hadn’t heard of Helen until this release, but I now follower her on Instagram and her work is SO whimsical!

The final card I created was almost, but not quite, what I had expected. I had intended to have a stitched border around the outside, or possibly the Dual Dotted Rectangular dies from Lil’ Inker Designs (my favorite border die). Unfortunately, I made a mistake and had to edit my original idea. But first, let me tell you how I started out.

Using my Misti I colored each portion of the stamp with Tim Holtz Distress Markers onto some Tim Holtz watercolor paper. To get a clear impression I had to stamp multiple times, but keeping track of which color went where was not a problem. After the entire card was stamped I took a small paintbrush and moistened all of my work very carefully. Finally, using Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress inks, I toned down the card from the original white it was.

This is where my problem came up, I didn’t wait for the paint on “Plant Kindness” to dry! It smeared!!!!

To fix this, I re-created the upper right-hand corner on another piece of paper. Using a dual-stitched rectangle set, I cut out the damaged portion out of the original card face. Then very carefully I cut out the same section of the new portion I created. I hope to do a video soon to show how I fixed this.

I did make a mistake on this card, one I regret but also know I’ll never make again: Watercolor paper has two sides, a rough and a smooth side. You can see on this card the two different textures. Lesson learned: pay attention to paper texture!

To finish this off I ran the whole thing through a stitched die to finish the outside. This was pieced together and adhered to some Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock using Scor-Tape and then added some sequins!

I hope you like this card, it was a great challenge and a lot of fun!
