I have decided to start participating in various card making challenges. I look forward to being asked to think outside the box! For my first challenge, I was fortunate to find one from CAS-UAL Fridays, especially since having their products wasn’t a requirement. Can you believe that I don’t own any of their designs?!?!?!? Card crafting can be so expensive, every company has new releases, there are SO many supplies and tools to buy! Start yourself slow, and find areas where you can excel with the products you’ve got, that is my motto. 🙂

The challenge CAS-UAL Fridays set was to have an element going off of the edge. I did love going through my stash finding items that I could experiment with! I settled on using this rainbow and cloud die set from Lil’ Inker Designs, the sentiment is also from Lil’ Inker Designs. The raindrop die is from WPlus9. 😀

I die cut the rainbow and the clouds out of some Neenah Solar White card stock in 80lb, using Distress Inks I colored the rainbow stripes. Using the same inks I repeatedly inked the stamp working towards a rainbow look, this is such a dream with the Misti! This sentiment was then clear embossed to add shine.

After preliminarily laying out the rainbow and larger clouds I die cut raindrops. This layer is raised from the main card thanks to a layer of fun foam which has an area cut out so that the raindrops are actually the blue panel underneath.

The stripes from the rainbow were adhered to the front panel using my Tombow tape runner. The brilliant part of this was that it stuck them together even where they hung off of the paper. Very carefully I cut the parts that overhung the front panel. When the front panel was attached to the blue panel I lined up that rainbow grouping and adhered it to the blue. I did the same step, carefully cutting off the overhanging rainbow bit, and glued it down to the card base once the blue panel was attached. The final touches were to attach the littlest cloud, the biggest cloud (using foam tape so that it was raised), and added some Wink of Stella (clear) to the rainbow stripes, and a few white glimmer spots on the raindrops using my white Gelli Roll pen.

The card base is Neenah Solar White cardstock in 110lb.
