Kat Scrappiness is starting to host a monthly card challenge! This is super exciting to me because participating in more challenges has been one of my goals lately, and I’ve been failing at it. :/ However, being on the Kat Scrappiness Design Team, I feel as if I have to participate, what a great kick in the tush! I LOVE it!

Every month one of us Design Team members will be hosting the challenge, this month co-member Carly set up a mood board inspired by the colors and feel of the season that she loves. Given this as a guideline and with the requirement that you must use at least one (1) Kat Scrappiness product we were given free reign to create!

This month’s mood board:

To start, I wanted to play with the plaid. I’ve done a LOT of stripes recently, but not plaid. I have a plaid builder stamp set by Papertrey Ink, so I decided to pull that out. I COULD have made a plaid using similar striping techniques as I have in the past such as here and here, however, this was a set I hadn’t used in AGES. It also provided me the opportunity to stamp with Distress Oxides which, I felt, provided the PERFECT colors for this mood board.

Now comes the fun Kat Scrappiness products!!! I LOVE the Fancy Scalloped Stitched Border Dies and I cut along the side of the stamped panel. I dusted some Antique Linen and Distress Ink around the entire cut panel, focusing more along the outsides. I followed up the outside with more Distress Ink in Tea Dye.

You can see, above, the Distress Oxides and Inks I used. The Oxides were used to create the plaid. I stamped the image using a Neat and Tangled stamp called Pumpkin Everything with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide. I also embossed this stamp using Versamark Watermark Ink and WOW! Clear Embossing Powder.

I elevated this stamped panel above my plaid panel using some fun foam with Scor-Tape. And then I finished this off with some LOVELY sequins by Kat Scrappiness! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the square ones in the Sparkling Manhattan mix, as well as some of the glittery ones.
I also pulled out some sparkly aqua sequins from the Aqua Shimmer mix! They matched just perfectly!

If you’d like any of these products I encourage you to hop on over to the Kat Scrappiness shop and get your own! You can use Hannah10 to get 10% off of most of your purchase!
