A new release means NEW inspiration!

This release introduces us to a new stamp called Owl Post, it features an owl swooping down with a letter in its talons and the sentiment “Owl Post” above the creature. I was super lucky that I got to work with this set, along with Molly Dagg of Dagg Designs Blog! She made cute tags with her set, which you’ll see in the blog hop!

I made two cards with mine, and I also stamped my image on the outside of an envelope, which I guess is how Audra intended the stamp set to be used.

First, I created this smooshed ink background on some Arches Cold Press Paper and some Distress Oxides, then I die cut it out using the Stitched Postage Dies from Kat Scrappiness.

I stamped my owl and colored him using Copic Markers, then I fussy cut him out. At first, I ran a black marker around the edge, like I always do, but I felt as if he disappeared on the black background I knew I was going to put him on, so I outlined him with a silver Gelli Roll. He was adhered to a black piece of cardstock which was also cut out using one of the Stitched Postage Dies from Kat Scrappiness.

Using some Washi Tape for masking, I stamped the sentiment onto the black piece of cardstock and heat embossed it with some white Hero Arts Embossing Powder. This panel was raised off of my watercolor panel using some mounting tape.

Finally, I added some silver and gold embroidery floss and mounted everything onto some coordinating dark blue cardstock which I had run the edges alongside some Delicata Silver ink.

For this card, I took a die from an old Hero Arts Kit and colored it with a combination of Distress Inks and Copic Markers. I created a “Galaxy” background using Distress Oxides, and I dusted the edges of a gray panel of cardstock using more Distress Oxide. For all of this, I sprayed Tattered Angels spray over everything. Then I adhered my owl using some 3-dimensional tape. It was pretty easy and fun!

I guess this was how the stamp was intended to be used, as an envelope decoration, but I like thinking outside the box. 😉
