Happy Spring, my crafting friends! It is Hannah here with another project showcasing Kat Scrappiness products! Kat has really been building up her brand’s products lately. This means that there is no end to the creative possibilities!
Today’s card is no exception, it features one of her new dies, along with one of her older dies! Her new die is the Scripty “Hello My Crafty Friend” which is not to be confused with her small word and die sentiment which says the same thing. Different sizes, different fonts, different price points, LOTS of options. See both of these dies here!
I paired the sentiment with the Wonky Wavy Rectangle Dies, I thought the stitching worked PERFECTLY as a border for the sentiment.
But I’m getting ahead of myself.
Creating the Card:
1) Using Distress Oxides, you could just as easily use any ink you have, I covered 6 panels of cardstock with 1 color each in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple. Then I cut them up using my paper trimmer so that they were in thin strips. Cover a panel with a sheet of Scor-Tape and layer those strips. Layer another sheet of Scor-Tape over the top and cover that with clear glitter. This is the BEST part!
3) On a card base, layout where the top layer will go, the die cut layer and remove the most extreme edges of your word die, if it hasn’t been removed already. Carefully add tick marks on the card base, using a pencil, to mark where the top and the sides of the sentiment go. This step is important because it will allow you to lay your inlaid rainbow in the correct spot. Once you’re sure the rainbow strips are in the right location adhere this down, I used Scor-Tape for this.
4) My front card panel was ONLY adhered to the glittering rainbow. I did this for a couple of reasons: First: I didn’t want my card front to be extraneously elevated from the front. Second: If I had taped the whole thing, you’d see indents for the edges of the rainbow panel. I used SO MUCH Scor-Tape, and to keep it even more secure I used a bunch of Ranger Multi-Matte Medium, to ensure the finner bits stayed down, and to act as back up for the tape.
5) Glue down the negative bits of the sentiment using more Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. I found out that the Crystal Katana was an EXCELLENT tool for this job! I’ll be doing a video shortly, for Kat Scrappiness, showcasing this tool soon. Look for it shortly! P.S. If you can, leave the entire sentiment in the panel and remove slowly, after you’ve adhered the negative bits. This makes lining up the negatives of the letters a breeze!
